Rainy Day in Durban

Lindsay joined us at the B&B for a full English breakfast this morning. Zane picked us up later and took us to his Coffee Shop in a nearby shopping center. Tried to buy stamps for my postcards, but the supermarket was not sure if the "General Postage" would work for international mail. Decided to wait until we get to the airport tomorrow. We drove past the Durban Hilton and Kingsmead Cricket Stadium--memories of Comrades 1999--then along the beach front and on into North Durban. Stopped by a cafe for appetizers across from The Beverly Hills Hotel, complete with ocean view. The bird nests in the palm trees resembled fruits of the trees, except they hung from the ends of the branches of palm furthest away from the tree trunks.
Our outing beneath the sun-umbrella was interrupted by a deluge of rain putting us back on the road maybe sooner than expected.

Took a break at our B&B for awhile to decide how to proceed with our luggage and fly/drive excursion to Cape Town. Zane picked us up and we went to the residence hall where Lindsay shares a room with a fellow student. We plan to get it all sorted out and meet up later for dinner.
Dinner in Durban tonight with Lindsay and friend Sho. Sho hails from Los Angeles CA via Santa Barbara (UCSB). Delightful young lady who makes it a habit to RUN nearly every day. She located a run in Cape Town on 11-13, the day before we leave. Hopefully, all will be able to pick a do-able distance (5K-90K) and 'race' along the way! Lindsay and Sho hope to travel in Africa once their semester is complete. Destinations yet to be decided. Most memorable and interesting travel is the result of invention complemented by implusiveness.
We visited the Suncoast Casino and tried our luck at the slots. The winner sprung for dessert at Circus Circus--the premier dessert bar at the Casino. Cappuccios, cheesecake, South African Red Wine, and decadent chocolate cake. Back to the B&B to complete the suitcase shuffle. The girls are due back tonight for an early breakfast and flight to our next destination--Port Elizabeth, a farily sedate provencial city making the most of the history-rich countryside and nice quite beaches.
